Main parachains – Acala, Moonbeam, Astar, and other Polkadot cases

What are parachains and why are they important?

Parachains are specialized blockchains connected to the @Polkadot relay chain. They have their own logic, tokens, and focus, but share the network's security. This allows each parachain to solve a specific problem without overloading the main infrastructure

Acala – turnkey decentralized finance

Acala is a financial hub on the @Polkadot network. It offers the aUSD stablecoin, automated liquidity, a decentralized exchange, and staking tools. Thanks to its integration with other parachains, Acala allows users to efficiently manage their assets without having to leave the ecosystem

Moonbeam – Ethereum-compatible smart contracts

Moonbeam is designed to run smart contracts that are fully compatible with Ethereum. This makes it easy to port existing applications and infrastructure to Polkadot using the same tools: Solidity, MetaMask, Remix, etc. Moonbeam supports cross-chain communication, allowing interaction with other parachains

Astar – a platform for multi-chain smart contracts

Astar is focused on supporting multiple environments for smart contracts, including EVM and WebAssembly. It has also implemented a dApp staking mechanism: users can stake tokens not on validators, but directly on their favorite applications, supporting the ecosystem from the bottom up

Other cases: Interlay, Phala, Centrifuge

- Interlay transfers Bitcoin to Polkadot via iBTC

- Phala Network focuses on confidential computing

- Centrifuge tokenizes real assets, connecting DeFi with the real world

Conclusion

Parachains are not just applications, but full-fledged blockchain systems with their own logic. Acala, Moonbeam, Astar, and others show how Polkadot's flexible architecture allows entire industries from DeFi to private computing to develop within a single ecosystem
