The RBNZ and RBA are charting opposite courses.

In Wellington, Governor Adrian Conway views rising tariffs and tax burdens as a “negative demand shock,” signaling readiness to trim the cash rate further if inflation eases.

But in Sydney, Deputy Governor Michele Bullock insists that unemployment—still near historic lows—requires a “measured and gradual” easing path.

For FX strategists, this sets up a structural bias: NZD is vulnerable to pre-emptive RBNZ cuts, while AUD may outperform until Australia’s data justifies a dovish pivot.
