Developing rollups on Polkadot has been relatively challenging.

The Polkadot SDK, which is required for rollup development, is written in Rust—a language with a steep learning curve and a limited pool of experienced developers. As a result, finding the right talent is not easy.

Even for those who are proficient in Rust, building rollups requires a solid understanding of Polkadot’s architecture. Developing custom runtimes demands specialized knowledge of the Polkadot SDK, adding another layer of complexity.

Due to these barriers to entry, even builders who are interested in the Polkadot ecosystem have often found it difficult to get started. However, with the introduction of @PolkadotDeploy, anyone can now launch their own rollup on Polkadot. Complex configurations are handled through an intuitive interface, and everything from development to deployment can be done with just a single click.

Without PDP, upcoming builder-focused services like Polkadot Cloud would have struggled to gain momentum. The improved developer experience enabled by PDP is poised to significantly accelerate the expansion of the @Polkadot ecosystem.
