Tough news, but not entirely surprising given how rapidly the auto industry is changing. Bosch cutting XXXXX jobs by 2029 is clearly a response to a shrinking traditional car market and the massive shift toward electric vehicles and automation. EVs need fewer mechanical parts, and that’s hitting suppliers hard especially those focused on combustion engine components.

At the same time, the push toward digitalization and cost-cutting through automation means fewer roles are needed long-term. Add to that the global economic pressures and slower car sales in key markets like Europe and China, and it’s a tough mix to deal with.

Still, it’s good to hear Bosch is planning this as a phased transition, hopefully giving employees time to reskill or move into other roles. Change is never easy especially for workers — but this looks like a necessary step to stay competitive in a rapidly evolving industry.
