@The_Kirk_Brown @SpencerHakimian Hi Kirk. It's an example. In Tokyo, the average monthly salary is around $4000 USD. Lower in the countryside. The population in Japan is ageing (lots of old people) and the need for a huge expensive US car is low.

BTW I know several Japanese people that agree with my statement.
