A massive leak of internal documents has exposed Amnban, an Iranian cybersecurity firm founded in 2018, as a front for state-sponsored cyber operations linked to Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) and the APT39 (Chafer) hacking group. Despite presenting itself as a legitimate security consultant, Amnban conducted sophisticated cyberattacks targeting global airlines, including Royal Jordanian, Turkish Airlines, Etihad, Emirates, Wizz Air, Air Arabia, Rwanda Air, Qatar Airways, and others across the Middle East, Africa, and Europe. Amnban’s CEO, Behnam Amiri, and employee Ali Kamali, a U.S.-sanctioned hacker, along with MOIS operative Hamed Mashayekhi, have been implicated in the operation. The leaks also raised concerns about border security, as the Amnban employee Arshia Akhavan recently immigrated to the U.S. despite ties to the APT39 hacker group.
