India to Launch Power Market Coupling by January 2026, Says CERC

Day-Ahead Market (DAM) coupling across power exchanges will begin in ‘round-robin’ mode starting Jan 2026, per CERC's latest announcement.

Move aims to enable price convergence across regions, reducing disparities and bringing consistency to electricity pricing.

Decision follows months of stakeholder consultations and technical submissions from Grid-India.

Implementation will be done in phases, enhancing efficiency and transparency in India’s power market operations.
