There are XX deregulated free zones currently setting up shop across England, Scotland, and Wales. These were initiated by Sunak and Truss, and quietly signed off by Labour even though they publicly stated 'freeports were not a silver bullet for the economy'. Last October 2024 Angela Rayner announced more Investment Zones were to be set up around the UK. In June 2025, Keir Starmer's Govt published a policy paper Industrial Strategy Zones Action Plan, which outlines merging the Tories' freeports and SEZs, and no doubt AI growth Zones will be a key component as well.
