On Monday, XX July 2025, Makonde Constituency MP Hon. Simbarashe Ziyambi led a ground-breaking ceremony for a 120KW REA solar electricity plant in Kamhonde. This project will provide power to Kamhonde Primary and Secondary Schools, the local clinic, shops in Kamhonde and Madenhe, and nearby villages. Construction has already started, and the plant is expected to be commissioned by early December 2025. At the same event, Hon. Ziyambi announced that work will begin next week to rehabilitate XXX broken boreholes across Kamhonde and the wider Makonde area. After the meeting, he toured road construction between Alaska and Copper Queen. The project, being carried out by Frogmerge Company, covers the stretch from Sanyati Bridge to Kenzamba–Mvurayatonhora. Progress is advanced, with Nyare X and X bridges nearly complete—only gabions are left to be installed. Residents of Makonde expressed their appreciation for the development efforts being made. Many of the problems they once faced, such as poor roads and broken boreholes, are now being addressed.
