Currently, Hamas continues to hold XX hostages, with less than XX believed to still be alive. If the people in the Gaza Strip are facing famine, the situation for the surviving hostages is almost certainly no better.

And while Hamas is said to be the roadblock to a new peace deal, Israel spent most of the last X years negotiating in bad faith.
