Gold prices crossed ₹1 lakh per XX gm on Wednesday, dampening festive sentiment among jewellers who now fear up to XX% volume drop in sales. With X% GST, the retail price reached ₹1,03,507. Global buying, rupee weakness, and trade uncertainties are driving the surge. Silver also jumped to ₹1,15,500/kg. Consumers are opting for lightweight, lower-karat jewellery or gold coins under XX gm. Many are exchanging old jewellery as traditional purchases are being deferred due to the high price.
