I’m fundamentally pro-tariffs, because globalism has failed, and only benefits the rich and corporations. But Trump’s tariff policies are literally asinine. His plans are based on ego and vindictive pettiness, sovereign meddling. Like an imbecile he slaps tariffs on key ingredients we need to reinvigorate on-shoring, even bigger than end product tariffs. He’s literally dumb, beyond words. XX% tariffs on copper? Seriously? WTF? It is as essential as oil. Why not just shoot both our own fucking feet? XX% tariffs on steel and aluminum, because our metals industry is stuck in the dianaour ages and can’t compete? That’ll make our cars and everything else a whole lot more competitive - NOT! You can’t reinvigorate manufacturing if your key materials and commodities are priced ridiculously higher than our competitors abroad. Trump is literally DUMB. DUM DUMB DUM.
