It was a discussion space session. Here are the highlights:👇
➥ Where do you think XRP is positioning, and where is it today? Where has there been growth around XRP?
jrdothoughts pointed out that in the last few months to a year, the momentum in XRP has completely reversed.
There have been a lot of new product releases, stablecoin, sidechain, etc. and there's a renewed energy around the company.
XRP is one of the most resilient assets in the history of crypto. It has been through everything and is still sustaining a monumental market cap and never seen a yield.
Hugo emphasized their vision behind XRP. ————— Flare has always been a blockchain focused on data. And what can you do with data? You can use it to build better bridging.
They have a bridging product they're launching for non-smart contract tokens like XRP, Stellar, and Bitcoin. Their initial focus is XRP.
XRP is the largest untapped asset out there in terms of DeFi usage.
According to Hugo: ➥“Someone needs to build a premier financial layer for this extremely large source of value that is getting increasingly adopted. And we’re also interested in expanding that out to other assets as we go along.”
➥ Where have we seen a lot of DeFi growth, and how can we make these financial layers easier for non-native crypto users to access?
The speakers pointed out that there's still a barrier to entry. UX and distribution are still quite complex.
Most DeFi trades that generate real yield require a level of complexity that makes it hard for the average user.
Firelight could unlock a new wave of capital in DeFi.
Imagine if a percentage of all that XRP sitting on exchanges started participating in the DeFi economy.
That would unlock a level of access that hasn't existed before.
XRP’s role in cross-chain liquidity and interoperability:
With Firelight, they're exploring a more unique use case using risk-taking as a primitive to bring XRP on-chain.
➥ jrdothoughts mentioned that one of their goals is to launch native UI use cases quickly after Firelight goes live.
They’re not trying to play the “wait a year and farm points” game.
The goal is to bring real yield fast and be public about where those yields are coming from.
➥ How do you balance generating real yield while maintaining security?
Hugo explained that Flare set aside XX% of their token supply to bootstrap the ecosystem.
They're not using anywhere near that and likely never will.
But it’s useful for building liquidity and market size.
Because in the end, things are valuable when they represent a serious market.
