The second round saw Shields landing some hooks and Winiarski being difficult to do much more than that to. Another pretty even round. The third round began with a flurry from both men, but the end of the round the flurry came only from Shields who knocked Winiarski down just before the bell. It wasn’t a knock out, but that will go a long way but this goes to one more round!!! I think Shields had this won, so I don’t know what I think of this decision. The fourth round saw Shields taunting Winiarski to bring it to him, and while he did, not much landed solidly but Shields didn’t get many counters in either, though he did a few times. Unbelievably they call for another round. Look, I love finishes as much as anyone, but this is feeling a bit silly now. Shields won this fight, it wasn’t dominant, but this feels very unfair to him. The crowd is behind Shields big time as well. The second extra round really added nothing to making the decision any easier. Both men feel they won it. UNREAL…the judges give it to David Winiarski and I have no idea how they came to that decision at all. Nothing against Winiarski at all, he’s tough as hell, but he didn’t win this fight, and I think that was very clear.
