Verstappen to Spa: “I can't wait to work closely with Mekies”

— Max Verstappen expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming race at Spa, highlighting his eagerness to collaborate with Laurent Mekies, the new team principal of Red Bull. Speaking to media, Verstappen remarked:

“Spa is a classic circuit and has always been my favorite on the calendar, it's a very 'old school' track where you have to do everything perfectly to get a good lap. I like high-speed curves like Eau Rouge, the layout different from other circuits and the differences in height that make the track more challenging to drive.”

“At Silverstone, even though the race didn't go as expected, it was promising to take pole position in qualifying. Last week I returned to the factory to spend some time on the simulator with the team and I can't wait to work closely with Laurent Mekies. In Belgium there is always great support from the Orange Army and it's like a second home race for me, so I'll go back to wearing the orange helmet.”

— Yuki Tsunoda, reflecting on his own preparations, shared his optimism about the changes within the team and his past experience with Mekies. Speaking to media, Tsunoda stated:

“I spent the period off from racing training hard and taking advantage of the break to recharge my batteries mentally. I wanted to arrive at Spa in the best possible state of shape, both mentally and physically. I feel strong and ready and can't wait to face the next two races before the summer break. We are entering a new era for the Team and it will be nice to meet Laurent, with whom I worked very well together in Racing Bulls.”

“I know how he likes to work and our attention is all focused on moving forward and, as far as I'm concerned, on giving the performance we need. Spa is a fun circuit that could suit us well, the Sprint always makes things difficult, but the work and preparation we have done during this break should put us in ideal conditions.”
