At the tail end of today’s Senate Judiciary hearing on Ending Illegal DEI Discrimination & Preferences, Senator @maziehirono tried to land a rhetorical punch on @GeneHamiltonUSA of @America1stLegal and ended up unraveling instead.

She opened with the usual platitudes of “Diversity is our strength. Unity is our superpower” but then came the attempted ambush.

“I do have one yes-or-no question for Mr. Hamilton. I know you're involved in DEI cases, but has any court opined that DEI is unconstitutional? Yes or no?”

Hamilton replied “Yes.”

That should’ve ended it but Hirono wasn’t interested in answers—only in performance.

“I disagree with you because you're talking about the Harvard case” she snapped “If you're using that case to say the Supreme Court deemed diversity a goal as being unconstitutional, you are very wrong.”

She grew more flustered by the second and even said “I'm not here to give you a forum to air your anti-diversity rhetoric, OK?”

Hamilton answered a legal question with a legal answer. It was Hirono who turned a Supreme Court ruling into a personal crisis and even accused her colleagues of being suspicious of her.

“We are a very divergent group of people here and if you're suspicious of people who are DEI, that means you suspect me of something.”

Truly clownish behavior from a Senator!
