The issues of disagreement are severe and remain the same ones they have always been: 1) The extent of Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, with Hamas demanding a pullback from 24-28% of Gaza territory that Israel wants to keep controlling. That is the area in Rafah where Israel wants to build a concentration camp 2) Continued Israeli military presence near Gaza, especially control over key routes that would split the territory. Israel wants to stop Palestinians from being able to return home. 3) The number and identity of Palestinian prisoners to be released, including “heavy” prisoners Hamas insists on freeing. 4) The end of the war. Hamas does not trust loose U.S. guarantees that the ceasefire will become permanent and that Israel will not resume attacks 5) Israel insists on maintaining the GHF mechanism, which has been used to slaughter starving Gazans. Hamas wants it dismantled. Make no mistake. Israel could have a ceasefire right now and get all the hostages back if it was willing to do the moral thing: withdraw from Gaza and allow international aid organizations to feed the populace. But continuing the genocide matters to them far more than the hostages ever did. The international community must put a full embargo on Israel. Nothing else will end this.
