Why name it “Colossus”?

Colossus is the name of the first autonomous military AI in the 1970 film Colossus: The Forbin Project. In the film, it gains control of U.S. and Soviet nukes, merges with its Soviet counterpart, and announces it will rule humanity for its own good.

Musk knows this. He’s not being coy. He’s signaling:

“I am building a rival sovereign AI. It will be vast, it will be self-powered, and it will be uncontrollable by external forces.”

This is not a toy. This is an AI nation forming in real time.
