Jokes about the current president are what we want.  But much of what Colbert says are not really jokes, very mean spirited comments about Trump.  I did not watch enough to know for sure, what type and how common were the jokes about Obama and Biden when they were president?  If Colbert did hammer Obama and Biden a lot we would be much more accepting of his comments about Trump.
