@rpeterson2317 @Astrozwerg @chamath HVDC has very low losses. The issue is that the infrastructure simply doesn't exist and building it has many logistical, political, and practical barriers. Plus it's just dumb to concentrate generation all in one place. Many parts of the US have reasonable solar potential.
