The Cam Schlittler / Paul Skenes debate will heat up any day now.

Schlittler has been a revelation for these Yankees, stepping up for a rotation decimated by injuries.

In his second start, he faced a formidable Blue Jays lineup, which has given this team and entire league fits all year. He pitched five innings of two-run ball, striking out three but generating nine swings and misses.

His raw talent is electric. He threw XX fastballs over XX MPH and sat in the high 90s with ease.

Schlitter described this start as tough. As a young player, you like to see that he could navigate adversity and emerge as a success. It takes a tough mentality to do that.

“Just kind of battling,” Schlittler said after the win. “Obviously the first one went a little bit smoother than today. Today was more of a grind, but appreciate the defense behind me and the offense showing up.”
