How to destroy your funds and reputation

Off The Grid has recently launched on Steam, and despite mixed reviews, its player count has continued to grow.

Now it sits at an average of 7.5k players daily, but as it has been pointed out by Inhuman and Urban, most of them are bots. (You can read more about this in the posts linked below)

Even though not many people seem to pay attention to this petty trick right now, so their reputation hasn't been that affected yet, let's look at how much money they wasted on this.

A single bot used to boost a game's player count on Steam costs around $0.05/hour, which equals $9K for a single day.

So in the past X days since the release of the game, the team wasted 54,000$.

If you want to check the numbers yourself, the math used for this is 👇

7.5k (estimated avrg active bots) * XXXX (price/bot/hour) * XX (how many hours in a day) * X (total number of days)

Also, by doing some easy dev math, we can see that around 35k accounts own the game, which is way more than expected, so there are probably extra costs for botting the owner count.

Btw I don't know the exact price of the bots they used, so the real number might be different.

Pls don't sue me btw 😜
