Overall, winters are warmer at the East Coast resorts.

Then we get a year like last year where it was cold with above normal snowfall and snow pack at the East Coast resorts with frozen rivers by early January.

On the flip side, Western resorts are seeing record snowfall (past XX years) at several resorts due to a more moist atmosphere.

NYC had the snowiest decade on record last decade.  Now it's having one of its least snowiest decades.
