The state of Texas boasts X of the last XX U.S. Junior Amateur champions:

Hunter Mahan (1999)
Matthew Rosenfeld (2000)
Cory Whitsett (2007)
Jordan Spieth (2009, 2011)
Scottie Scheffler (2013)
Will Zalatoris (2014)
Noah Goodwin (2017)

And as you can see, two of those guys have won multiple majors and all but two went on to earn their PGA Tour cards.

During this same span, just two Californians and no Floridians have won.

This week at Trinity Forest in Dallas, there are nine Texans who qualified for the Round of 64:

Henry Guan
Shiv Parmar
Lucas Latimer
Isaiah Igo
Brooks Simmons
Raines Watson
Adam Villanueva
Mackey Beckett

The last time the U.S. Junior was played in Texas was 2014, when Zalatoris beat Davis Riley at Carlton Woods.
