In a BTC bear market or multi-month downtrend, it's unlikely that STRF/D price will quickly recover. Not necessarily a problem if it's long-term cash holdings meant to be held for years. However, it is a problem if it's short term cash needed in 2-6 months.

No SOFR tie is also somewhat misleading. For STRC the rate itself adjusts to SOFR. But STRF/D will not be unaffected by changes in SOFR, rather the principal would be expected to adjust to bring the effective yield in line with market demand.

But, I don't think it's a matter of what is "better," it's a matter of what the purpose of buying it is and what role it's meant to play in the portfolio.
