The rapid-response air support team of the 3rd Naval District of Nabovat (Islamic Republic of Iran Navy – NEDAJA) quickly deployed a helicopter to intercept and issue a warning to the U.S. Navy’s USS Fitzgerald (DDG-62), an Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer, after it approached Iranian territorial waters in the Sea of Oman earlier today.

In response, the American warship threatened to engage the Iranian helicopter, demanding it withdraw from the area. The Iranian pilot, however, continued the mission and reissued the warning to the U.S. vessel.

Following the repeated threat, Iran activated its "Ghahreman" (Hero) Air Defense System, reportedly part of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army’s integrated air defense network. A firm message was transmitted, stating that the Navy helicopter was under full protection of the air defense system, and that the U.S. destroyer was required to alter its course southward.
