Zero Knowledge Proof or ZKP for short is a clever cryptographic trick that lets someone prove they know something without actually revealing what that something is

think of it like this you’re trying to convince a friend that you know the password to a secret door, but you don’t want to tell them the password itself, with a ZKP, you can prove you do know it, without giving anything like the actual password away

and this idea was first introduced back in 1985 by Shafi Goldwasser, Silvio Micali, and Charles Rackoff, and it’s become a foundational concept in privacy focused tech, especially in blockchain and zero knowledge rollups
