Russian workers riot at Turkey’s Akkuyu Nuclear Plant over unpaid wages

Russian workers at the Akkuyu nuclear power plant construction site in southern Turkey blocked roads and smashed cars, demanding overdue wages.

Footage shows riot police using water cannons against protesters, who threw stones in response.

Located in Mersin, Akkuyu is Turkey’s first nuclear power station, built with Russia. The first reactor is set to launch in 2025. After a deal with Siemens collapsed, key equipment is now sourced from China.
