ANA's $14B order split between Boeing, Airbus, and Embraer exposes Washington's failure to secure exclusive deals for American manufacturers. While Boeing gets XX jets (18 Dreamliners + XX Max 8s), the rest go to foreign rivals - including Airbus' A321neos that'll empower a budget subsidiary's long-haul ambitions.

This half-measure deal proves D.C. can't leverage strategic partnerships to dominate key markets. Japan's tourism boom should've been Boeing's clean sweep, but weak negotiation let Airbus grab XX orders and Embraer break into Japan with XX regional jets.

When "Buy American" becomes "Buy Some American," it's a win for global competitors at taxpayers' expense.
