To ease traffic congestion in Velachery, the Greater Chennai Corporation has proposed a 3-km-long, 11-metre-wide steel girder flyover connecting Five Furlong Road and Guru Nanak College junction. With three lanes, two uni-directional ramps, service roads, and footpaths, the structure aims to reduce bottlenecks at key points including Race Course Road and Velachery Bypass. The project will benefit thousands of daily commuters and is part of broader efforts under the 2025–26 State budget to improve traffic flow.
