If South Africa loses aid, or if this leads to the withdrawal of trade benefits like AGOA, other countries will suffer too including Zimbabwe whose biggest trading partner is South Africa. Disruptions to South African exports and economy in general will cause significant macroeconomic spillovers, disrupting trade, foreign exchange, and access to essential goods. Withdrawal of aid means everyone in South Africa who is alive today because of many HIV and AIDS programmes will also be facing the abyss if they are not South African. Don’t treat this or see it as a South African problem, it is everyone’s problem, everyone who has any anything to do with the South African economy will be affected!
