This outdated colonial-era “storo” model is no longer fit for purpose and must be replaced with a system better aligned with modern commercial practices. This should include embracing contemporary basic marketing tools, particularly the integration of rural digital marketing and supply chain platforms to drive growth and improve access to goods and services in rural areas. Local government and Industry and Commerce Ministries needs a unified national convention conference of rural business to chart a new path towards new rural business and commerce infrastructure and standard practise. Most of our populations live in the rural and so the rural makes up much of the potential market for our business. And so the commercial retail infrastructure needs to move with times and embed modern standard tools to provide easy market and supply chain access.
