the Athabasca 🇨🇦 unconformity is routinely drilled with oriented DD to manage water inflow, recover core for structural work, and cope with hard basement rocks. Thelon’s 🇨🇦 sandstone is softer, and logistics are easier, so its DD cost comes down, but it is still core drilling.
