The article calls it a blow to the post-Maidan reforms and suggests it may be a deliberate attempt to shield President Zelensky’s inner circle from anti-corruption investigations. One official compared the bill to the "dictatorship laws" passed under Yanukovych on January 16, 2014. Another source believes Zelensky’s administration moved forward while the U.S. is distracted and after allegedly managing to "partially win over Trump." The Economist: Law Against NABU Is a "Panic Move" Amid Investigations Into Zelensky’s Inner Circle
The British magazine The Economist published a scathing analysis of Ukraine’s new legislation weakening the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO).
