PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa is set to commission a new solar power plant for platinum mining giant Zimplats in Selous this Wednesday. The facility will provide a reliable power supply essential for the company’s mining operations.

The project aligns with the government’s broader push to attract more investment in the energy sector through independent power producers. It also follows the recent rollout of a net metering system, which allows both large- and small-scale producers including households, to feed excess electricity into the national grid and receive compensation.
