In fact, he said the complete opposite. At a press conference on December 16, 2016, Obama said: "My principal goal leading up to the election was making sure that the election itself went off without a hitch, that it was not tarnished, and that it did not feed any sense in the public that somehow tampering had taken place with the actual process of voting. And we accomplished that... We have not seen evidence of machines being tampered with. So that assurance I can provide." Obama's public statements are completely consistent with the December 8, 2016 Presidential Daily Brief document (see below) that Tulsi Gabbard just released -- and then idiotically proceeded to scream "treason" about -- in a transparent attempt to take political heat off Trump for the Epstein fiasco. And also to prove that she's a loyal Trump toady, after Trump repeatedly humiliated her last month re: the pre-war Iran intelligence -- after which she proceeded to humiliate *herself* by fudging intel to justify Trump's maniacal drive for a joint US-Israeli bombing campaign. It was exactly the kind of aggressive military action that Tulsi Gabbard not only *opposed* in the past, but crafted her entire political identity around opposing. Just a complete and total humiliation, on every possible level. So now she randomly dumps this trove of 2016 "Russian interference" documents to Fox News, in a clumsily-concocted PR scheme -- then she jumps on Hannity to accuse Obama of "treason" (laughable), and pretends Obama could face criminal prosecution. In other words, she takes everyone to be an absolute idiot, as she desperately implements her bogus little political diversion tactic at the behest of Trump. I have ALWAYS been in favor of maximum transparency and disclosure regarding "Russiagate" documents and any other records/evidence/etc. The publication of these documents isn't the problem unto itself. Release everything! (Just like with Epstein!) I always have many FOIA requests pending at any given moment! The government chronically conceals way too much information! The problem here is the cheap political ploy Tulsi Gabbard is trying to run, misrepresenting core precepts of what came to be known as Russiagate, which *does* need to be rigorously examined -- and documents exhumed -- for the historical record. However, these cynical theatrics don't enhance public understanding of Russiagate. They detract from it. By weaponizing the issue as a brainless partisan cudgel -- not altogether different from how Dems weaponized the issue against Trump in the past. This is just another installment in that sorry series. Contrived tit-for-tat nonsense. Of course, many Dems/media/etc. DID make insane claims about Russiagate, including the claim that voting systems were tampered with in the 2016 election -- huge percentages of Democratic voters came to believe the most insane maximalist conspiracies about "Russian interference." The narrative spiraled completely out of control, divorced from the available evidence, and engulfed the US political system for several years straight. After-effects still linger today. I'm not denying any of that for a second. I covered it much more closely than Tulsi Gabbard ever did, starting from the very beginning. But it's just not factually accurate that Obama himself ever claimed voting systems were tampered with, or that he "suppressed intelligence" to that effect. Could it be argued that Obama should've been *more* proactive in tamping down on the insane proliferation of Dem conspiracies? Sure. There are plenty of legitimate critiques to be made of Obama, on the "2016 election interference" issue, or any number of other issues. But that's not what Tulsi Gabbard is doing. She's doing another simpering political shtick -- to appease Trump and promulgate bullshit. That's her clear MO so far as Director of National Intelligence.
