Polish programmer Przemysław “Psyho” Dębiak, a former OpenAI engineer, defeated the company's custom AI model in a 10-hour coding marathon at the 2025 AtCoder World Tour Finals in Tokyo. Dębiak outscored the AI by 9.5%, securing first place in the Heuristic division while the AI finished second, ahead of XX other top human competitors. The contest involved optimizing a robot's path on a 30x30 grid, an NP-hard problem requiring creative heuristics.
