DDR6: Mass Adoption Expected from 2027

DDR6 is anticipated to begin mass adoption in 2027. Global top three DRAM manufacturers, including Samsung Electronics, Micron, and SK Hynix, have already commenced development plans (DDR6 prototype chip design completed).

Next-generation CPUs are expected to support DDR6 starting from 2026.
It is projected to be adopted in AI servers, HPC systems, and high-end notebooks.
The preliminary specification for DDR6 is expected to be finalized by the end of 2024, with the LPDDR6 preliminary specification to be released in Q2 2025. It is slated to enter platform testing and validation phases from 2026.

→ Expected 2-3 times performance improvement compared to DDR5.
DDR6: 4×24-bit sub-channels (DDR5: 2×32-bit)

The architecture is in the standardization phase for the CAMM2 structure, moving from the existing 288-pin DIMM slot.

→ Module and motherboard design companies are currently commencing sample testing and application development.
