The $SBET chairman and $GLXY CEO were college roommates. Novo was one of the earliest $ETH investors. X% is a reasonable fee to pay for the highest quality, most secure custodial services available. More expensive than what they could get elsewhere but I’d bet Lubin is willing to pay a premium to sleep well at night, knowing his old friend is taking good care of the treasury. It’s also not trivial to spin up this level of custodial and validator infrastructure overnight. Lastly, Galaxy is providing a full suite of services that would be extremely difficult if not impossible for $SBET to build in-house. To the extent the AUM scales well into the billions, $SBET ‘s need for an external manager actually increases. More expensive than what they could get elsewhere but I’d bet Lubin is willing to pay a premium to sleep well at night, knowing his old friend is taking good care of the treasury.
It’s also not trivial to spin up this level of custodial and validator infrastructure overnight.
