I remember a unit I was in identified a missing rifle during a monthly SI inventory while in Afghanistan.

Days and days of emptying connexes over and over trying to find it.

It needed up being the rifle assigned to the Platoon Leader conducting the inventory.

It took him days to realize that he didn’t check off HIS serial number..
