Today FDA Commissioner @DrMakaryFDA @MartyMakary launched a pilot for the Commissioner’s National Priority Voucher program, which will dramatically accelerate drug approvals for US/developed drugs for unmet needs. This can be a game changer for patients. It doesn’t mean short-cutting the process. Safety and efficacy will still have to be demonstrated in a robust manner. It does, however, mean quicker FDA reviews of the data (something that takes a year today). I’m very excited for what’s coming.
