I'm pretty sure the whole "not dating" thing is restricted to women in a few coastal cities - San Francisco, New York, maybe a couple others (Portland). As usual, people in those towns assume that everyone else is Just Like Them. 

It's the same famous syndrome first registered in 1968, when a notorious journalist from Greenwich Village said, "How could Nixon win? I don't know ANYONE who voted for him."

Ladies, men are still going on dates. Just not in your neighborhoods.
