However, we have had a Department of Education for going on XX years, and in EVERY ONE of Mr. Lautens' examples, we now know worse/less than before. Therefore, his argument CANNOT be "we're not well-educated". Instead, he needs to show that retaining the DoE will lead to better education, despite the past five decades. Alternatively that the DoE has somehow kept us from being even less well-read than we would have been otherwise.
