Heavy metal icon Ozzy Osbourne, the frontman of Black Sabbath, has died at the age of XX.

"It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning," his family said in a statement. "He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time."

In 2020, Osbourne revealed that he had Parkinson's disease.

His death comes just weeks after reuniting with his Black Sabbath bandmates for the first time since 2005 for a farewell concert.

Osbourne co-founded Black Sabbath in 1968 with bandmates Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward. The following year, the band recorded their self-titled debut album.

Osbourne's trademark growl and Black Sabbath's overall sound helped the band be a pioneer of heavy metal.

But in 1979, Osbourne was fired from the band for his behavior and substance abuse.

He then launched a successful solo career. His first two albums – “Blizzard of Ozz” and “Diary of a Madman" – went multi-platinum.

Osbourne, who metal fans know as the Prince of Darkness, found new fame with the reality show "The Osbournes" in 2002. The show ran for four seasons on MTV and followed Osbourne, his wife, Sharon, and their two kids, Kelly and Jack.

Osbourne was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, once with Black Sabbath in 2006 and then again in 2024 for his solo career.
