I don't know how hyperliquid works in terms of perps, but generally in a bull market shorting pays substantial daily interest rates (the opposite of what longs are paying, you get credited) as you are effectively allowing others to buy long.  If he has a comparable long collateral in the same account (so some actual $pengu) and this offsets the $ increasing loss either more or equally - then he's effectively just making a scary amount of daily profit - A money printer
