@PhilArmstrong58 @PerKurowski The concept of backing refers to fiduciary media, e.g. notes, that were 'backed' by the bearer asset (gold) that they represented. This technology was necessary for cumbersome gold to function as money.

Bitcoin works as money as is. It is a digital bearer asset. Backing is moot.
