Spurs are keen too and they’ve got UCL football, but Guehi’s ambition is clear and he wants to compete for the PL & CL, not just participate. Liverpool are weighing up whether to move now or hold off, certain scenarios are in play. As I reported back in February, Charlie Cresswell is also an option, it was nice to see that line picking up tonight. I’d like to make it clear that he would effectively cover Quansah’s departure. The England set-up has even pushed Cresswell’s name to the LFC staff internally. A move for Guehi hinges on Konaté’s future. Do Liverpool push now, or convince Guehi to hold out until January or next summer, when Konaté is expected to head to Madrid on a free, Guehi heads to Anfield on the same type of deal. For me I think Liverpool move for Guehi this summer reducing risk of him going elsewhere but, there’s also suggestion that Cresswell could be an option to come in now for depth, then Guehi (or another top CB) when the Konaté situation plays out. Like I say, this may have already been decided however this has been the first update of sorts on a defender for a couple of weeks now. The club could still be in a position of heavy thinking/planning. Good to know discussions are there.
