But change in a complex system won't follow textbook economic outcomes. Just look at the inability to predict tariff outcomes in 2017 and today. The American 20th Century was a moment of alignment. The American 21st Century is going to require a new alignment. The old venn diagram is useless. Both the American people's and Canadian people's priorities and values have changed. We don't even know if Canada will be in one piece in XX years.
