Ozzy Osbourne was a force of nature that shaped my life. Growing up, Sabbath blasted through my adolesence. My first band tried to sound like them and he laid the soundtrack for everything that came after. His solo albums were fantastic. Many underrated.

I was lucky enough to see him live five times—twice with Sabbath, three times solo—and each show was an unforgettable ride into chaos and brilliance. He somehow managed to be lovable and menacing at the same time. Ridiculous and brilliant. Unassuming and yet always on top of his game.

As a teenager with long hair, people said I looked like him, and honestly, I took that as a badge of honor. Ozzy’s wild stories—the ant-snorting, the bat-biting, even the legendary pee on the Alamo—aren’t just rock ‘n’ roll myths. They are what rock decadence is all about.

“Snowblind” isn’t just a song to me—it’s the greatest metal track ever made. And “War Pigs”? The best anti-war anthem played. Through the madness and the music, Ozzy was raw honesty, a rebel with a voice that could shatter walls and yet heal wounds.

He played a show right before he passed, got to say farewell on his own terms. That’s the kind of rockstar he was—tough as nails, endlessly giving, and larger than life.

Ozzy, I tried to put into words what you meant to me and to millions of others. But there is no way to do it justice. Farewell.
