The US imports 3.8T annually. Assuming a XX% average tariff, that’s $400b in revenue a year assuming imports don’t decline (which is the point). We are running a $2T deficit. So no, tariff revenue helps, but we need to grow the economy and cut spending to even balance the budget, let alone lay down any debt to cut the interest payment.
